Amends Section 41-29-139 of Mississippi Code to establish that possessing or bringing any controlled substance into state, county, or municipal buildings or facilities is a felony offense.

Violators face imprisonment of not less than one (1) year nor more than five (5) years and fines of not less than $1,000 nor more than $10,000.

New provision is supplementary to existing drug offense laws and does not repeal or amend other related statutes prohibiting similar violations.

Effective date: July 1, 2017.
