Amends Section 25-61-9 of the Mississippi Code to revise notice requirements under the Mississippi Public Records Act for records containing trade secrets or confidential commercial or financial information.

Requires public bodies to notify third parties within seven business days of receiving a public records request for the third party's records containing trade secrets or confidential commercial or financial information.

Allows third parties 21 days from notice to obtain a protective order in court to prevent disclosure of records containing trade secrets or confidential commercial or financial information.

Requires parties seeking a protective order to give notice to the party requesting the information in accordance with Mississippi Rules of Civil Procedure.

Takes effect July 1, 2017.
