Lowers minimum ACT score requirement for Teacher Education Scholars Forgivable Loan Program from 28 to 23 and minimum GPA from 3.5 to 3.0.

Program provides annual forgivable loans up to $15,000 for junior-year teacher education scholars and annual scholarships up to $15,000 for freshman-year scholars intending to enter teacher education at Mississippi public or private universities.

Students can receive forgivable loans for four consecutive years if enrolled full-time and making satisfactory progress toward a baccalaureate degree in education.

Teachers employed by Mississippi public schools are exempt from loan repayment and receive full loan forgiveness after five years of employment.

Teachers employed in "D" or "F" rated schools receive an additional $6,000 annual salary supplement for up to five years and are encouraged to obtain National Board Certification.
