Exempts active and retired public employees in the Mississippi Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) or Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol Retirement System (MHSPRS) from bad check fees if their account was overdrawn solely due to an error by their employer or retirement system in depositing their compensation or retirement allowance.

Requires that the employee receives compensation through direct deposit, had no prior notice of the deposit error, and made the check withdrawal transaction before becoming aware of the problem.

Amends seven sections of Mississippi Code (81-14-365, 97-19-57, 73-9-43, 73-34-45, 73-35-17, 73-60-29, and 75-67-122) to conform with the exemption and prevent fees from being charged to eligible employees by financial institutions and various state licensing boards.

Takes effect July 1, 2017.
