Health insurance policies covering Mississippi residents that provide pregnancy-related benefits must also cover medically necessary infertility diagnosis and treatment expenses, including artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization, and related procedures, effective July 1, 2017

Coverage is limited to a lifetime benefit maximum of $100,000 for assisted reproductive technology procedures and applies only to married individuals

Infertility treatment coverage must include diagnostic tests and procedures such as hysterosalpingography, hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, semen analysis, and blood tests, as well as FDA-approved fertility drugs with the same limitations as other prescription drugs

Insurers cannot terminate coverage or refuse to issue policies solely because an individual is diagnosed with or has received infertility treatment

Procedures must be performed at Mississippi-licensed or certified facilities and conform with American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and American Society of Reproductive Medicine guidelines; section does not apply to self-insured group arrangements
