Requires individual and group health insurance policies with prescription drug coverage to permit prorated daily cost-sharing rates for partial prescription supplies when a prescriber or pharmacist determines it is in the patient's best interest and the patient requests or agrees to synchronize medications.

Prohibits health insurance policies from denying coverage for medications dispensed as partial supplies for medication synchronization purposes when determined appropriate by the prescriber or pharmacist and requested by the patient.

Mandates that health insurance policies allow pharmacies to override denial codes that indicate a prescription is being refilled too soon when the refill is for medication synchronization.

Prohibits health insurance policies from using prorated dispensing fees and requires full payment of dispensing fees for each partially filled or refilled prescription regardless of any prorated copay or alignment service fees.

Effective date: July 1, 2017.
