HB 88 Summary

• Grants persons 18 years of age or older the right to refuse vaccinations or immunizations for any disease at their sole discretion.

• Prohibits employers and public or private entities from requiring vaccination as a condition of employment or receipt of any benefit or service.

• Prohibits use of intimidation, threats of termination, denial of services, or disclosure of medical records to coerce vaccination.

• Amends Section 41-23-43 to allow first responders to claim exemptions from vaccinations based on religious or philosophical reasons (previously only religious).

• Takes effect July 1, 2017.
