Mississippi Transportation Commission may authorize welcome, recognition, and acknowledgement signs adjacent to state highways in unincorporated county areas, with local jurisdictions required to purchase and maintain the signs.

Signs must conform to requirements established by the Transportation Commission and Department of Transportation, and are prohibited on or adjacent to freeways and interstate highways.

Transportation Commission may authorize signs for member institutions of the Mississippi Association of Independent Colleges and Universities displaying institution names and emblems, matching standards for public state institution signs.

Institutions receiving signs must purchase and pay all costs for erecting and maintaining the signs.

Effective date: July 1, 2017.
