Amends Section 71-3-47 of the Mississippi Code to require the Workers' Compensation Commission to order an emergency hearing within twenty (20) days upon request or petition by either party.

The commission retains its existing authority to determine all questions relating to payment of claims and conduct investigations as deemed necessary.

Applies to contested workers' compensation cases and does not affect the existing procedures for informal conferences and hearings conducted by commission representatives.

Takes effect July 1, 2017.
