HB 96 Summary

• Requires all recipients of Medicaid, Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and State and School Employees Health Insurance Plan to be tested or screened annually for illegal drug use, alcohol abuse, Hepatitis B and C, tuberculosis, and sexually transmitted diseases.

• Mandates that the cost of all required testing and screening services be covered as a benefit under each respective program or plan.

• Authorizes the State and School Employees Health Insurance Management Board and the Executive Director of the Division of Medicaid to adopt rules and regulations necessary to implement these testing and screening requirements.

• Amends Section 25-15-9 to require the State and School Employees Health Insurance Plan to include coverage for services necessary for the testing and screening.

• Amends Section 43-13-117 to add testing and screening services as a covered benefit under the Medicaid program, with reimbursement provided by the Division of Medicaid.
