Expresses profound regret for Mississippi's role in slavery and apologizes for the wrongs inflicted by slavery and its aftereffects on African Americans.

Acknowledges that slavery deprived enslaved people of life, human dignity, and constitutional protections, and extends deepest sympathies to enslaved persons and their descendants.

Encourages remembrance and teaching of slavery, Jim Crow laws, and modern-day slavery history to prevent these tragedies from being forgotten or repeated.

Specifies that the resolution shall not be used in or serve as the basis for any litigation.

Directs distribution of the resolution to state elected officials, higher education leadership, NAACP and SCLC Mississippi chapters, and the Capitol Press Corps.
