Northwest Rankin High School Girls Soccer Team won the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 6A State Championship on February 4, 2017, defeating Ocean Springs 2-1 in overtime.

Alyssia Davis scored the game-winning goal in overtime after the team tied the match 1-1 in the final two minutes of regulation play.

The team roster included 23 players with multiple position designations, coached by Head Coach Dean Joseph.

The Legislature commends the team for excellence on and off the field that brings honor to Northwest Rankin High School, their community, and the State of Mississippi.

Copies of the resolution shall be furnished to Head Coach Dean Joseph, Principal Ben Stein, the Rankin County School Board, and the Capitol Press Corps.
