Commends Mrs. Shirley Estes upon her retirement from her position as Alderman of the City of Brookhaven in 2017, ending her tenure since being sworn in on October 18, 2004.

Recognizes her co-ownership of three businesses in Brookhaven (Brookhaven Chemical & Janitorial Supply, Estes Steamway Carpet & Upholstery, and Estes Glass, Inc.) established with her late husband Don Estes starting in 1971.

Acknowledges her community service including PTA presidency at four schools, membership on the King's Daughters Medical Center Board of Trustees, and leadership roles in the Junior Auxiliary, Brookhaven Beautiful, and Master Gardeners.

Notes her extensive involvement in First United Methodist Church as President of United Methodist Women, Chair of Council on Ministries, and member of the Administrative Board.

Directs that copies of the resolution be furnished to Mrs. Estes, the Brookhaven Board of Aldermen, and the Capitol Press Corps.
