Commends and congratulates the Hollandale-Simmons High School "Blue Devils" football team and Head Coach Tavares Johnson for winning the 2016 MHSAA Class 1A State Championship and achieving 25 consecutive victories.

Team completed a perfect 13-0 season and won back-to-back Class 1A championships, defeating Lumberton 30-26 on December 2, 2016 at Mississippi State University.

Notable offensive performances included Marquez Pam with over 1,875 rushing yards and 30+ touchdowns during the season, and Demarrius Turner with 824 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.

Team defense allowed only an average of 8.1 points per game throughout the season, including holding Faulkner to 18 points while scoring 98 in the first round of playoffs.

Directs that copies of the resolution be provided to the Hollandale-Simmons High School football team, Coach Tavares Johnson, school administrators, and the Capitol Press Corps.
