Theft of controlled substances, legend drugs, or firearms of any value constitutes grand larceny punishable by imprisonment up to 10 years or a fine up to $10,000, or both, regardless of the item's monetary value.

Grand larceny penalties are tiered based on property value: $1,000-$4,999 (up to 5 years), $5,000-$24,999 (up to 10 years), and $25,000+ (up to 20 years imprisonment).

Theft from churches, synagogues, temples, or established places of worship carries enhanced penalties: $1,000-$24,999 (up to 10 years) and $25,000+ (up to 20 years imprisonment).

Motor vehicle larceny penalties are based on vehicle value using the grand larceny schedule, with second or subsequent offenses punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment or a $10,000 fine, or both.

Technical corrections update statutory language from "Penitentiary" to "custody of the Department of Corrections" and make grammatical revisions throughout the larceny statutes, effective July 1, 2017.
