Amends Section 25-3-95, Mississippi Code of 1972, to allow state employees to use major medical leave without first using personal leave when a dependent is dismissed from school or daycare due to illness, provided written notice of dismissal is submitted.

Major medical leave may be used without prior personal leave deduction for regularly scheduled medical visits for chronic disease treatment and for dependent care when dismissed from school or daycare due to illness.

Applies to all Mississippi state employees except those at public universities who do not contribute to the Mississippi Public Employees' Retirement System or the State Institutions of Higher Learning Optional Retirement Program.

Takes effect July 1, 2017.
