Senate Bill 2037 Summary

• Requires county board of education members elected to terms beginning on or after January 1, 2018, to have at least one year (32 credit hours) of postsecondary education from an accredited college or university.

• Requires local school board members appointed or elected to office for terms beginning on or after January 1, 2018, to have at least one year (32 credit hours) of postsecondary education from an accredited college or university.

• Applies the postsecondary education requirement to both county boards of education and local school district boards.

• Takes effect July 1, 2017.
