MS SB2040

Increases the maximum total workers' compensation recovery from 450 weeks to 520 weeks of average weekly wages for the state.

Removes the 450-week cap on permanent total disability compensation, making it payable to the employee until death instead of ceasing after 450 weeks.

Excludes permanent total disability compensation from the overall maximum recovery limit, allowing it to be paid separately and indefinitely.

Applies the new 520-week maximum to temporary total disability, permanent partial disability, temporary partial disability, and death benefits cases.

Takes effect July 1, 2017.
