Amends Section 97-15-13 of Mississippi Code to clarify prohibitions against hunting on streets, public roads, highways, levees, and railroad rights-of-way.

Defines "firearm" as any firearm other than a handgun, "hunt" as shooting at or killing wild animals or birds with a firearm, and "right-of-way" as maintained portions of streets, roads, highways, and levees up to adjacent property or fence lines.

Makes it illegal for any person to hunt with a firearm on their person or discharge any firearm on streets, roads, highways, levees, railroads, or their rights-of-way; violations are misdemeanors punishable by fines of $100-$500 and/or 60 days to 6 months in county jail.

Exempts law enforcement officers performing official duties and persons engaged in lawful self-defense from the hunting prohibition.

Takes effect July 1, 2017.
