Requires each local school district to adopt a policy on student suicide prevention developed with school and community stakeholders, mental health professionals, and suicide prevention experts.

State Department of Education must establish a model suicide prevention policy in consultation with the Mississippi Department of Mental Health for districts to use.

Mandates the State Department of Education require all school district employees to receive in-service training on suicide prevention education beginning in the 2017-2018 school year.

Requires newly employed school district employees to receive suicide prevention in-service training annually beginning in the 2017-2018 school year.

Mississippi Department of Mental Health is responsible for developing the content of the suicide prevention training materials.
