Authorizes county boards of supervisors to charge a penalty for late payment of garbage collection and disposal fees not to exceed 10% of the delinquent assessment.

Authorizes municipal governing bodies to charge a penalty for late payment of garbage collection and disposal fees not to exceed 10% of the delinquent assessment.

Amendments apply to Section 19-5-21 (county garbage systems) and Section 21-19-2 (municipal garbage systems) of the Mississippi Code.

Effective date: July 1, 2017.
