Sam Kendricks, an Oxford High School and University of Mississippi graduate, won the Bronze Medal in Men's Pole Vault at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics by clearing 5.85 meters (19 feet, 2-1/4 inches).

Kendricks was a two-time NCAA Outdoor Pole Vault Champion (2013 and 2014) and won the USA Pole Vault Championship in 2014, becoming the first person in Ole Miss history to achieve these titles.

He earned a Bachelor's Degree in General Studies and a Commission as an Officer in the United States Army from the University of Mississippi in May 2015.

The resolution recognizes Kendricks for bringing honor to his family, community, university, and the State of Mississippi through his athletic and military achievements.

The resolution directs that copies be presented to Kendricks and his family, the University of Mississippi Chancellor, and the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning.
