Honors Mississippi Supreme Court Justice Ann H. Lamar of Senatobia as the 2016 Chief Justice Award recipient upon her retirement from the court effective December 31, 2016.

Recognizes her 32 years of public service including 9 years on the Supreme Court, 5.5 years as Circuit Court Judge for the 17th District, and prior service as District Attorney and Assistant District Attorney.

Acknowledges her leadership of the Supreme Court Rules Committee on Criminal Practice and Procedure since 2012 to develop comprehensive Mississippi Rules of Criminal Procedure governing all criminal courts.

Commends her role as Chair of the Board of Governors of the Mississippi Judicial College, which provides continuing education for judges and court personnel, and her prior service on the Commission for the Study of Domestic Abuse Proceedings.

Directs presentation of the resolution to Justice Lamar, the Mississippi Supreme Court, The Mississippi Bar, and the Capitol Press Corps.
