Commends Laura Lee Lewis of Brookhaven, Mississippi, for being crowned Miss Mississippi 2016 and placing as Fourth Runner-Up in the Miss America Pageant on September 11, 2016

Lewis was the third contestant from Mississippi to place in the Top 10 Finalists in the Miss America Pageant since 2006

Lewis is a President's List Scholar and elementary education major at Mississippi State University and a Brookhaven High School graduate who built her platform on "Mentoring Matters" to encourage mentoring in young people's lives

Prior to becoming Miss Mississippi, Lewis developed the H.E.R.O. program (Honor, Excel, Reach, Overcome) to encourage children to make good choices in her community

Resolution directs presentation of commendation to Lewis and distribution to the Capitol Press Corps
