Pays tribute to Jerome "Jerry" Hafter, a noted Mississippi attorney and civic leader from Greenville who passed away on September 23, 2016.

Hafter was an accomplished graduate of Rice University (1967, Summa Cum Laude), Oxford University (1968), and Yale Law School (1972), and served 16 years in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Practiced law as a clerk to a U.S. Court of Appeals judge and later as a senior partner at Lake Tindall law firm and Phelps Dunbar, specializing in corporate law, litigation, real property, and constitutional law.

Served his community extensively as a member of the Greenville Public School District Board of Trustees for 25 years, president of the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce, and held multiple leadership positions in bar associations and legal organizations.

Received The Mississippi Bar's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015 and is survived by his wife Jocille and son Bryan; resolution extends legislative condolences to his family.
