Commemorates Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, for holding "2017 AKA Day" at the Mississippi State Capitol on February 8, 2017, marking the 22nd consecutive year of the event.

Recognizes seven Alpha Kappa Alpha members serving in the Mississippi Legislature: Representatives Sonya Williams-Barnes, Alyce G. Clarke, Angela Cockerham, Debra Gibbs, LaTaisha Jackson, and Sara R. Thomas, and Senator Tammy Witherspoon.

Acknowledges Alpha Kappa Alpha as the first Greek letter sorority for college-educated African-American women, founded in 1908 with over 280,000 members in 1,000 chapters worldwide and 32 chapters in Mississippi.

Honors the sorority's commitment to educational enrichment, civil rights, social justice, and volunteer service, with members contributing over 2 million hours of community service annually.
