Mississippi School for the Deaf achieved an historic sweep of the 2016-2017 Mason-Dixon National Tournaments in Volleyball, Girls Basketball, and Boys Basketball, the first such sweep in 29 years.

Volleyball Team won First Place in the 29th Annual Mason-Dixon Volleyball Tournament at Alabama School for the Deaf in October 2016, marking the first state volleyball championship in school history.

Girls Basketball Team won First Place in the 40th Annual Mason-Dixon Girls Basketball Tournament in January 2017 at Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf, the sixth state basketball championship in school history; Senior Kylisha Cathey was named Tournament MVP and achieved her 1,500th career point in December 2016.

Boys Basketball Team won First Place in the 65th Annual Mason-Dixon Boys Basketball Tournament in January 2017 at Louisiana School for the Deaf, the sixth state basketball championship in school history; Mark Allen Campbell was named Tournament MVP.

Legislature commends and congratulates the Mississippi School for the Deaf teams, coaches, administration, and parents for bringing honor to their school, community, and state.
