Hinds Community College was established on September 9, 1917, as Hinds Agricultural High School with 117 students on a 45-acre campus funded by Raymond bonds ($5,000) and Hinds County ($75,000)

Mississippi Legislature established the first statewide system of community colleges in the nation in 1928 by providing state funds to supplement local tax levies for 13 junior college districts

Institution expanded to a six-location multicampus system serving over 35,000 students across five counties with an annual budget of $117 Million and 2,089 acres encompassing 196 buildings

College was renamed Hinds Community College in 1987 and became recognized for academic excellence, affordable access, and accountability in university transfer, career/technical, and workforce education programs

Legislature expresses appreciation for Hinds Community College's 100 years of service to Mississippi and acknowledges the contributions under Dr. Clyde Muse's 40-year tenure
