Congratulates Dr. Fanasy Deming-Jefcoat, UMMC School of Dentistry part-time instructor, on being named the 2017 Dental Alumnus of the Year at the 35th Annual Dental Alumni and Friends event on February 10, 2017

Dr. Deming-Jefcoat operates her own periodontics practice in Madison for 10 years while teaching part-time at UMMC since 2007, and has been voted "Best Part-Time Professor" three times by students

Holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Mississippi College, dental degree from UMMC, and a master's degree with Certificate of Periodontics from Baylor College of Dentistry with board certification in periodontology

Serves as Speaker for the Mississippi Dental Association (three-year term), has served on the MDA Executive Committee for five years, and is Budget Chair of the Finance Committee for the Mississippi Association of Women Dentists

Resolution directs that a copy be presented to Dr. Deming-Jefcoat, forwarded to the Dean of the UMMC School of Dentistry, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps
