Amends Section 11-7-13 to clarify that wrongful death actions may be brought outside an estate, regardless of whether the deceased has real or personal assets.

Allows widows, husbands, children, parents, siblings, or interested parties to bring wrongful death actions independently without opening an estate.

Permits recovery of property damages, funeral expenses, medical expenses, and other related costs incurred by the deceased, whether or not an estate has been opened.

Requires defendants to request heir determination within 90 days of filing an answer, with such determination to be resolved before trial commencement.

Takes effect July 1, 2018.
