Allows certified law enforcement officers and certified part-time officers employed by counties or municipalities to use their official vehicles while performing private security services during off-duty hours.

Requires governing authorities of municipalities and county sheriffs to approve each officer's use of the uniform, firearm, and vehicle on an individual basis, not by general order.

Requires approving authorities to determine that the proposed private employment will not bring disrepute to the jurisdiction or law enforcement generally, and that use of official uniform and vehicle promotes public interest.

Establishes that private security employers must indemnify and hold harmless the jurisdiction employing the officer, and the jurisdiction is not liable for officer actions during private security work.

Effective July 1, 2018; officers must notify their agency of the place of employment, hours worked, and type of employment for private security jobs.
