Amends Mississippi Code sections 73-15-19 and 73-15-21 to require the Mississippi Board of Nursing to authorize applicants for nursing licenses to have fingerprints taken at various locations outside the Jackson area at the applicant's option.

Applies to both registered nurse (RN) and licensed practical nurse (LPN) applicants who must undergo fingerprint-based criminal history records checks as part of the licensure process.

Fingerprints are forwarded to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety and Federal Bureau of Investigation Identification Division to verify applicants have not been convicted of disqualifying offenses.

Maintains existing provisions that criminal history records obtained by the board remain nonpublic and confidential, exempt from Mississippi Public Records Act, except when introduced in licensure hearings or with written applicant consent.

Effective July 1, 2018.
