Authorizes law enforcement officers to use license-plate readers connected to the motor vehicle insurance verification system to enforce motor vehicle liability insurance requirements.

Allows officers to access the verification system during traffic stops, accident investigations, or when using a license-plate reader to confirm vehicles have valid liability insurance meeting minimum amounts required under Mississippi law.

Establishes that verification system results supersede insurance cards presented by drivers, allowing officers to issue citations based on system data regardless of card display.

Permits officers to exercise discretion and refrain from citing drivers during the first 60 days after temporary insurance issuance if the system shows an expired policy but the operator provides proof of new insurance coverage.

Effective July 1, 2018.
