Removes the age limitation on health insurance coverage requirements for autism spectrum disorder screening, diagnosis, and treatment by striking language that previously limited applied behavior analysis coverage to children age 8 and under.

Maintains existing coverage limits of 25 hours per week for applied behavior analysis, with no more than 10 hours per week provided by a licensed behavior analyst, though extension beyond these limits is permitted if medical necessity is determined.

Requires health insurance policies to cover evidence-based autism treatments including behavioral health treatment, pharmacy care, psychiatric care, psychological care, and therapeutic care as prescribed by a licensed physician or psychologist.

Permits insurers to review autism treatment plans every six months at the insurer's expense, and allows plan participants to use standard appeal rights if they disagree with treatment decisions.

Takes effect July 1, 2018.
