House Bill 45 - Mississippi 2018

• Amends Section 97-3-3 to classify willfully causing abortion as a felony punishable by 1-10 years imprisonment and fines of $25,000-$50,000.

• Amends Section 41-41-39 to classify performing or inducing abortion as murder, punishable as provided by law for murder convictions.

• Amends Section 41-41-73 to classify performing partial-birth abortion that kills a human fetus as murder.

• Repeals sections of Mississippi Code that previously provided for lawful abortions, partial-birth abortions, and abortion facility regulations.

• Establishes the "Mississippi Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act" with civil and criminal penalties, and eliminates public funding for any facility performing abortions effective July 1, 2018.
