Amends Section 37-13-89 of the Mississippi Code to require school attendance officers to visit the home or place of residence of a compulsory-school-age child within 72 hours of an unexcused absence for consultation with the parent or legal guardian.

Mandates that contact with parents or guardians occur through actual visitation rather than other means of communication when a child is absent from school during school hours without a valid written excuse.

Requires school attendance officers to notify parents and school officials of the child's physical location if the child is found in any place other than the home or place of residence.

Takes effect July 1, 2018.
