State Board of Education must adopt a model dating violence policy by July 1, 2018, including definitions, reporting procedures, safety planning, staff training requirements, and parent/student outreach.

Each school district must adopt its own dating violence policy by October 1, 2018, based on the state model, and submit a copy to the State Department of Education within 30 days.

School districts must distribute the dating violence policy in personnel policies, discipline policies, and student codes of conduct to ensure notice to students and parents.

All school districts must incorporate age-appropriate instruction on healthy relationships and dating violence prevention in kindergarten through Grade 12, with violence prevention required in high school health courses.

School district codes of student conduct must include the dating violence policy as a required component.
