Clarifies that school district security personnel designated as peace officers have the power to make arrests on school property.

Requires security guards and school resource officers to complete basic law enforcement training within two years of employment, or they lose peace officer powers.

Establishes that assaulting a designated school security officer on school property is criminal liability equivalent to assaulting a peace officer.

Grants school board peace officers authority to prevent violations of law within 500 feet of school property if reasonably determined to impact student, faculty, or staff safety.

Takes effect July 1, 2018.
