Documents the church's closure during the Civil War (1860-1870) and subsequent decline until its reopening in 1920 with services resumed under Reverend J.F. Sansing.

Recognizes significant expansions and renovations throughout the 20th century, including construction of new buildings in 1933, addition of prayer meetings in 1940, and major improvements during the 1950s-1970s.

Directs that copies of the resolution be provided to Mt. Zion Baptist Church's pastor and the Capitol Press Corps.
