Mourns the passing of Denise LaSalle, Mississippi blues and soul legend who died on January 8, 2018, at age 83.

Recognizes LaSalle's career achievements including her 1971 million-selling hit "Trapped by a Thing Called Love" and 16 R&B chart hits over 14 years.

Acknowledges her work as founder of the National Association for Preservation of the Blues (NAPOB) and the Blues Academy to educate younger generations about blues music.

Honors her charitable work including fundraising for Mississippi Delta tornado victims and regular performances at the Mississippi Delta Blues and Heritage Festival.

Directs copies of the resolution be furnished to LaSalle's surviving family members and the Capitol Press Corps.
