Honors Joe P. Vaughn, Chief Operating Officer/Associate Medical Center Director of the G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery VA Hospital, for his dedicated leadership and service to Mississippi veterans.

Vaughn oversees 45,000 unique patients, 1,800 employees, and a $350 million annual budget across a multi-facility health system including 134-bed inpatient units, intensive care units, an 80-bed community living center, and seven community-based outpatient clinics.

Reduced the hospital's budget deficit from $36 million to $18 million in his first year through implementing sound resource policies, developing budget plans with managers, and eliminating waste.

Directed over $30 million in construction projects to improve facility operations and increase access to care, including installation of a True Beam linear accelerator for advanced cancer radiation therapy treatment.

Directs copies of the resolution be furnished to Mr. Vaughn and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
