Commends Jimmy Buchanan, Sr. upon his retirement as Assistant Superintendent of Education for Copiah County Schools on June 30, 2017.

Recognizes his 43-year career in education, including positions as history teacher, head coach, assistant principal, and principal at various schools before becoming Assistant Superintendent in 1974.

Acknowledges his extensive involvement in community organizations including 100 Black Men of Jackson, New Zion United Methodist Church, Habitat for Humanity, Crystal Springs Lions Club, and the Copiah County Medical Center Board for 30 years.

Notes his leadership roles in state education associations and his service on multiple boards and committees dedicated to economic development, transportation, and youth programs.

Directs that copies of the resolution be provided to Mr. Buchanan and the Capitol Press Corps.
