Beginning November 2019, the Natchez-Adams Special Municipal Separate School District board of trustees shall be elected rather than appointed, with five members elected from districts matching the county board of supervisors districts.

School board elections shall be nonpartisan, with candidates prohibited from campaigning or qualifying based on party affiliation, and candidate names listed alphabetically on ballots with no party designation.

Candidates must file intent to run with the circuit clerk by March 1 of the election year and pay a $15.00 filing fee.

The candidate receiving the highest number of votes in each district shall be elected; vacancies are filled by appointment by either the municipality or board of supervisors (whichever has more students in that district) within 60 days, with successor elections at the next regular election if the unexpired term exceeds six months.

All incumbent trustees shall continue serving through December 31, 2019, with successors taking office January 2, 2020, for four-year terms.
