MS SB2100

Removes subdistrict residency requirements for judges in the Third Circuit Court District that previously required Place One judges to reside in Calhoun, Chickasaw, Lafayette or Union County and Place Two judges to reside in Benton, Marshall or Tippah County.

Allows all three judgeships (Place One, Place Two, and Place Three) to be filled by residents of any county within the Third Circuit Court District.

Applies to the regular judicial election in November 2019 and any intervening elections to fill vacancies in the three judgeships.

Takes effect January 1, 2020, except Section 2 which takes effect upon passage.
