Requires all school resource officers and security personnel with peace officer powers to complete uniform statewide training prior to serving in schools, replacing the previous two-year grace period.

Mandates minimum 40 hours of specialized training developed by the Mississippi Department of Education covering child development, cultural competence, de-escalation, mental health identification, and student due process protections.

Authorizes Mississippi Community Oriented Policing Services in Schools (MCOPS) grant funds to pay for required training of school resource officers whose salaries are not funded through MCOPS grants.

Allows MCOPS grant funds reimbursement up to $1,200 per person for training costs, per diem, travel, and lodging at the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers' Training Academy.

Effective date: July 1, 2018.
