Senate Bill 2165 Summary

• Amends Mississippi Code Section 37-19-7 to expand the counties eligible for additional salary supplements for Master Teachers in the Mississippi Delta region.

• Adds Tallahatchie and Holmes counties to the list of qualifying counties that already includes Claiborne, Adams, Jefferson, Wilkinson, Amite, Bolivar, Coahoma, Leflore, Quitman, Sharkey, Issaquena, Sunflower, and Washington counties.

• Master Teachers holding National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification employed in these counties receive an additional $4,000 annual salary supplement on top of the base $6,000 supplement available statewide.

• Supplements apply only when funds are available and are in addition to regular salary schedules, with prorated amounts for teachers assigned less than full-time.

• Effective July 1, 2018.
