State Department of Education may issue a standard five-year license to individuals holding foreign-certified teaching credentials upon evaluation by the department and a nationally recognized credential evaluation organization (NACES or AICE member).

Foreign-certified applicants must provide course-by-course evaluation of all university or college-level coursework, documentation of K-12 teaching experience within the past ten years, and achieve passing scores on Praxis I Basic Skills and Praxis II Specialty Area tests.

Department shall recognize out-of-state coursework completed by foreign-certified teachers for purposes of standard license renewal or certificate upgrades.

Special nonrenewable licenses valid for up to twenty-four months may be issued to applicants with foreign credentials less than a standard certified license, during which time they must complete Mississippi standard license requirements.

Effective July 1, 2018.
