Amends Mississippi Code Section 97-3-2 to remove language stating that persons convicted of crimes of violence are ineligible for parole or early release until serving at least 50% of their sentence.

Maintains the existing list of 20 offenses classified as crimes of violence, including murder, rape, robbery, kidnapping, and burglary of a dwelling.

Preserves the provision allowing judges to classify other felonies with maximum sentences of at least 5 years as crimes of violence if the defendant used or threatened physical force.

Clarifies that the crime of violence designation does not determine parole or early release eligibility, leaving such determinations to other provisions of law.
