Parents or legal guardians of children enrolled in schools or school districts that have had their accreditation withdrawn may petition to transfer their child to an accredited school district of their choice, which must grant the transfer based on available capacity.

Transportation of transferred students to the new school district is the responsibility of the parent or guardian unless the receiving school district agrees to provide transportation.

School districts accepting transfer students from non-accredited schools or districts cannot charge tuition fees to those students.

Per-pupil adequate education program allotment funds, including add-on program costs, transfer monthly from the student's home district to the receiving accredited district.

Effective July 1, 2018; amends multiple sections of Mississippi Code to conform student transfer procedures and funding mechanisms for students leaving non-accredited schools.
