MS SB2459

Amends Mississippi Code Section 33-1-19 to extend reemployment protections to military servicemembers and veterans performing duties or receiving training with armed forces of other states, in addition to the United States Armed Forces and Mississippi state forces.

Employees who leave non-temporary positions to perform military duties or training with any state's armed forces (including active state duty, state-training duty, or authorized military duty under federal law) are entitled to restoration to their previous or similar position with same status, pay, and seniority.

Requires servicemembers to provide evidence of satisfactory completion of military duty or training and remain qualified to perform their job to receive reemployment protections.

Military duty or training absences are classified as authorized leave, though may be unpaid.

Effective date: July 1, 2018.
